Graduation Requirements
The Los Angeles Unified School District graduation requirements include completion of the minimum CSU "a-g" requirements, the California Department of Education (CDE) requirements and requirements set forth by the LAUSD Board of Education. The Los Angeles Unified "a-g" and the additional CDE course requirements require a passing grade of "D" or better for graduation eligibility. Additionally, students must earn 210 credits. Students must meet all requirements in order to earn a high school diploma.

Grade level promotion is based solely on the numerical credits earned. In order to promote to the next grade level, students must earn the total number of credits required as indicated in the chart above.
Each semester, every course passed with a grade of "D" or better earns five (5) numerical credits. (Algebra 1 is a year-long course which yields zero (0) credits for the first semester and ten (10) credits for the second semester. A total of 210 credits are needed to earn a high school diploma.
